Transliteracies has partnered with the Electronic Textual Cultures Lab (ETCL) at University of Victoria and the English Broadside Ballad Project (EBBA) at UC Santa Barbara in conceptualizing the RoSE project so that in the future its socially-oriented research environment might be matched both to digital repositories such as ETCL’s REKn (Renaissance Knowledge Base) and EBBA and to advanced online document research and annotation applications such as ETCL’s PReE (Professional Reading Environment). [Both the ETCL Projects mentioned are in development.]
Much of the impetus behind the social-computing direction of Transliteracies derives from its affiliation with the UC Santa Barbara Center for Information Technology and Society (CITS), with which it established a joint UCSB Social Computing Group (with a graduate-student Bluesky subgroup). In mounting its RoSE Design Charrette on February 26, 2010, Transliteracies worked with CITS as its affiliate.
