Jeremy Snow

Jeremy Snow is a Masters student in East Asian History at the University of California at Santa Cruz. His research interests include the evolution of the warrior class in Japan, the significance of Japanese animation (anime) and manga in relation to discourses on national identity, and the development of Japan as a global power in the years following World War II. He is currently working on his Masters thesis, which will be a study of the impact that Article 9 (the forced disarmament of Japan following World War II) has had on Japan’s ability to engage in international relations and trade as well as its impact on the development of Japan’s contemporary national identity. Jeremy is currently a research assistant for the Transliteracies project (headed by Alan Liu).
